Beallwood Student Ministry

We realize we are not parents.

Student Ministry is a few hours a week meeting as a youth group, and maybe a few days a year for retreats and trips.  But parents are parents long before and long after a Student Ministry event!

God created the family (Genesis 2) long before He created the Church (Acts 2).  We believe a culture, a city, and a church are best served as the family is served.  We exist to help you teach, model, and live out Biblical Truths to your family by providing Godly, Biblical leaders to be around your student.  We are a tool for you to use in your family; we do not want to be a substitute!

We realize you are.

Any student ministry can have an impact by focusing all time and attention on students.  But a successful student ministry must equip and minister to parents!

Our Generational Bible Study Classes are designed to help you live out Biblical truth.  We meet at 9.30 on Sunday Mornings to study Scripture and consider the following questions:
  • Is there a TRUTH here I can LIVE OUT in new ways before my children?
  • Is there a TRUTH here that can help SHAPE how I am parenting?
  • What are ways I can TEACH and build this TRUTH into the hearts of my children?
  • How can this TRUTH TRANSFORM me in ways that are important to my children?
We also want to provide some resources for you to use as you see fit.
  • Richard Ross  ::  Richard Ross is a parent; equipper of parents, youth and youth workers; and a devoted follower of Christ.  His writings, insights and twitter updates are highly insightful.
  • Covenant Eyes  ::  Covenant Eyes is an outstanding accountability and web filtering software.  Helpful for protecting the widest inlet for media in the home: the computer.  (Paid service)
  • K9 Web Protection  ::  This is a FREE filter that blocks various, customizable categories from being accessed in a web browser.  It protects against accidental browsing, open image searches, and even some web advertisements that are racy in nature and content.  Also, try X3 Watch as a free background application that monitors usage for accountability purposes.
  • Heart Connex  ::  A free family devotional published weekly to encourage spiritual conversations to take place in the home. An email subscription is also free.
  • Visionary Parenting  ::  A Website designed to inspire and equip parents to impress the hearts of their kids with a love for God along with a wide variety of other parenting resources.
  • Movie Guide  ::  Ted Baehr has put together a great informational resource, and some of it is free. Over 5,000 movies have been reviewed from a Christian perspective containing plot and worldview elements within the movie (including sex, language, violence, etc). Current movies are FREE for anyone to see. There is a small, tax-deductible charge for viewing the entire collection, but it is well worth a visit to this website before seeing a movie.
  • The Center for Parent/Youth Understanding  ::  A nonprofit organization committed to building strong families by serving to bridge the cultural-generational gap between parents and teenagers. At a time when an already confusing youth culture is changing quickly, CPYU helps parents understand teenagers and their culture so that they will be better equipped to help children and teens navigate the challenging world of adolescence.

We want your input and participation.

Any parent is welcome to attend any Student Ministry function as a chaperone, guest, or observer.  Additionally, parents have key input and voices when it comes to calendaring events, cost, trips, and other events.  We typically have a parent meeting once a quarter for planning and input.  The Student Ministry exists to come alongside parents, and we cannot do that without parental input.
